  • After School Program Interest Form 2020-2021

***Para Español continúa a la siguiente página***

At this time, we do not know what school or the after school program will look like in the fall. This form is to collect a list of families who would like a space in the after school program for the 2020-2021 school year.

    Program Goal
The goal of the after school program is to encourage the love of learning, expose students to real experiences, develop social skills and build competence in academic abilities. In order to achieve our goal, we need the full cooperation and support of every parent and child.

    Parent Responsibility:
Direct your child to come directly to the program everyday. Your child must be signed in and out by an authorized adult. Call and provide written notice when your child is absent. Discuss the rules with your child. Respect program staff. Pick your child up on time.

    Participation Requirement
Students are required to attend the program every day for maximum benefit. For continued funding, our program is contingent on all students attending everyday. Students receive academic support, enrichment, and physical activity in the after school program. Students are expected to complete each class rotation daily. If absences or early pick up becomes a pattern, students will be asked to leave the program so students on the waiting list may have an opportunity for full participation.

    Tardiness and Pick Up
The after school program starts at the end of the school day and closes promptly at 6:00 P.M, You may be charged a late fee for late pick-up. Repeated late pick-ups may result in cancellation of your child’s enrollment in the program. Excessive tardiness is considered to be more than 3 times in one school year.

Be sure to click "SUBMIT" when finished with the interest form. Complete this application as soon as possible and be sure to click "SUBMIT" when you are finished. Enrollment is based on each site’s academic and social needs, first come- first serve basis, siblings, special interests, and/or determined by student needs at the school site until the program reaches capacity. A waiting list will be developed if capacity is reached. The waiting list is maintained for each grade level/rotation group throughout the academic school year.

This interest form is valid for any school your child may attend for the 2020-2021 school year in the Oxnard School District.

Completion of this application does not guarantee acceptance into the After School Program. You will be notified before the start of school if your application is accepted.

Please complete this form for each child you wish to have participate in the after school program.

    Dear Oxnard School District Families,

We hope this message finds you well and healthy. We are already missing you! We are truly grateful that our community is coming together to support one another as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Over the last couple of weeks, you should have already been in contact with your child’s teacher and you should have received enrichment and review work for your child. We have been working with our staff in order to continue providing our students essential learning opportunities.  The learning opportunities will look a little different, depending on your student’s grade level and specialized program.

Here are our expectations for distance learning, beginning April 20, 2020:

    • Grade Level Learning Opportunities
    • Learning Opportunities must be planned and developed by grade level or department teams.
    • Learning opportunities will be aligned to Common Core Standards and California Content Standards.
    • First through Eighth Grade students will be provided remote learning through iPads. First grade students will be provided IPads beginning on April 20, 2020 at your child’s school.  The school will contact you with more details regarding date and time.
    • Grades Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten will be provided packets. Parents will be notified when packets will be available at your child’s schools.

In addition to the teacher created lessons, we encourage you to visit our Distance Learning webpage https://sites.google.com/oxnardsd.org/osd-distance-learning/home.  On this page you will find many resources to assist in your child’s learning during this time.

We realize, these unchartered waters can create a great deal of stress and uncertainty.  In order to assist you and provide you support, our schools have created some guidelines so that you can have access to your child’s teacher, principal, counselor or any other staff member.  Please keep in mind April 6 through April 17 the Oxnard School District will be on Spring break.  Below please find the guidelines to assist you when we return on April 20th.

    • Teachers will be available to connect with students during school day using teacherpreferred platform to provide assistance. Teachers will establish daily “office hours” during which they will be available to answer questions and provide support. Your child’s teacher will provide you their office hours or you may call the school to request the hours.

    • Outside of these office hours, Monday through Friday, all teachers will respond to parent/student calls, email, etc. within 24 hours.

    • Teachers will make every attempt to connect with all students and establish a system of two-way communication. Whenever possible teachers will provide students feedback and support. If you have not heard from your child’s teacher, please call the school to ensure we have your correct contact information.

    • Special Education case managers will reach out to all students on their caseload and connect with grade levels to support students with any modifications and/or accommodations.

    • Beginning April 20th, all schools will have office hours Tuesdays from 9:00-1:00 and Thursdays from 12:00 -3:00. These office hours will be by appointment and staff will be available to provide any support you need. Please make sure to call the school in advance to schedule an appointment.

As you know, Ventura County has announced that all of our school buildings will remain closed for the remainder of the school year.  However, teaching and learning remotely will continue.  We will continue to reach out weekly with updates regarding your child’s education.  Please continue to stay tuned and check your email or our website regularly https://www.oxnardsd.org/Page/9. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call us.

    Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services

    Oxnard School District
